The Brentford and Syon Area Forum returns on Monday evening (21 September) for the first time since the local elections. Councillor Dan Bowring will chair the session, held at Brentford Free Church on Boston Manor Road, with ward councillors from Brentford and Syon joining him on the panel.
The meeting opens at 7.30pm with formal business and a vote of thanks to former chair Marina Sharma, recognising her service to the Forum and the wider community. Councillors will then approve the minutes of the January meeting before moving into the heart of the evening: resident-led discussion groups.
From 7.50pm, attendees will break into themed groups to explore the issues they want the Forum to focus on — whether that’s town-centre regeneration, transport and parking, environmental concerns, community safety, or the pressures facing local services. Facilitators will feed back key points to the room, giving residents a direct role in shaping the Forum’s agenda and highlighting Brentford-specific priorities.
The Open Forum follows, offering residents the chance to raise questions, concerns or ideas not covered in the earlier discussions. While individual cases cannot be debated, this section traditionally brings out practical neighbourhood issues, emerging concerns and suggestions for future agenda items. Written submissions are encouraged in advance, but residents can also speak on the night.
The meeting closes with any urgent business and confirmation of the next scheduled Forum on 23 November.
As ever, the Area Forum is designed to be a space where councillors listen, residents speak, and local issues are aired in public. With major topics already circulating in Brentford — from High Street regeneration and commercial lettings to Watermans Marina, fly-tipping enforcement, youth services and the impact of ongoing construction works — this meeting offers a timely opportunity for residents to help steer the conversation.
