Also wants extended operating hours to match new padel courts
October 23, 2026 A new planning application has been submitted to the London Borough of Hounslow seeking to extend the operating hours for the outdoor play area at the Snakes and Ladders Indoor Adventure Playground in Syon Park. The application, registered under reference P/2026/2941, was submitted by Andrew Kirkwood of Snakes and Ladders Adventure Centres Ltd alongside Hitchcock Architects Ltd, and it is currently under consultation as local residents and stakeholders are invited to submit their feedback. The application proposes a removal of the restriction on operating hours that was part of the planning permission. Currently, the outdoor play area is restricted to operating between 9:30am and 6:30pm on all days. The proposed variation seeks to align the play centre’s outdoor hours with those recently granted for the adjacent Padel Shift facility, proposing standard outdoor hours from 7am to 9pm on weekdays and from 7am to 8pm on weekends and bank holidays. In addition to the standard operational hours, the application requests permission for extended outdoor hours until 11pm on up to 12 occasions per calendar year. According to the applicant's submission, these limited late-night extensions are intended for managed, pre-booked special events, including community and youth group visits like Scouts and Brownies, educational and charitable functions, grown-up edition adult play events, and private customer hire or staff events. To address potential impacts on nearby residents and moorings along the Grand Union Canal, a detailed noise management plan accompanied the application. The plan outlines several key mitigation and control measures, including prohibiting external music or amplification outdoors, requiring indoor sound limiters, keeping windows and self-closing doors shut during indoor music events, and deploying a designated noise responsible person to perform periodic handheld decibel checks during evening events. Furthermore, the plan includes structured crowd dispersal managed by on-site staff and security personnel, alongside a direct phone contact and online feedback mechanism for neighbours. The planning application is currently open for public comment under consultation with the London Borough of Hounslow planning department. Members of the public can view the submitted documents, track progress, or submit formal comments directly via Hounslow's online planning portal using reference P/2026/2941.
