Will divide up into smaller ensembles for a varied programme
May 14, 2026 The Hounslow Symphony Orchestra is to presents a Lunchtime Chamber Concert at St Mary’s Church in Isleworth. The programme brings together a range of small ensembles drawn from the orchestra, offering an hour of varied chamber music in an informal setting. The concert on Sunday 24 May at 1.30pm opens with a brass quintet, performing Ian MacDonald’s Sea Sketches for Brass Quintet followed by Seb Skelly’s arrangement of Soon May the Wellerman Come. A string ensemble then plays two well‑known serenades: Elgar’s Serenade for Strings and Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds. A flute trio presents two contrasting works — Thomas Simaku’s From Across the Sea and Laszlo Zempleni’s Trio for Flutes — before a string quartet performs the first two movements of Beethoven’s String Quartet No.4 in C minor, Op.18 No.4. The concert concludes with wind players joined by strings for Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, bringing the programme to a warm and energetic finish. Tickets bought on line cost £10 with under 16 paying no entrance charge. St Mary’s Church is at Osterley Road, Isleworth TW7 4PW. HSO says it aims to be the friendliest orchestra in London. It is an amateur orchestra of around 55 players which plays three concerts each season, usually at St Mary’s Church and St Paul’s Church, 56 Grove Park Road, Chiswick. It concentrates on the standard classical and romantic repertoire and from time to time perform contemporary works.
