Will be run from the Brentford Community Boat House
September 17, 2025 A new fitness and skills programme for young people is set to launch in Brentford this month, offering free rowing-based training sessions aimed at boosting confidence, physical activity, and access to recreational sport on the river. The Junior Row-Fit Course, organised by a local charity operating out of Brentford Community Boat House, begins on 23 September and is open to young people aged 12 to 16. The initiative includes 10 free sessions focused on developing fitness and rowing technique, with the opportunity to progress to a part-subsidised October Half-Term Rowing Camp, where participants will take their skills onto the water. The programme is designed to bring young people together in a supportive environment, encouraging teamwork, strength-building, and outdoor activity. All equipment is provided by the charity, which reinvests its resources into running the sessions and maintaining access to the sport. Spaces are limited, and registration is now open via the charity’s website. Subsidy eligibility for the holiday camp will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and further information is available by contacting info@bcbh.org.uk. The organisers hope the course will serve as a gateway to wider participation in river-based sport and help foster a stronger sense of community among local young people.
