Rosie Griffiths recognised in the National Women in Innovation Awards

Brentford-based entrepreneur Rosie Griffiths has been recognised among the UK’s most inspiring innovators, receiving a Highly Commended award in the 2026 Innovate UK Women in Innovation programme.
Rosie, Co-founder and Creative Director of clean-energy technology company Olsights, is one of just 39 women selected from a record 1,590 applicants nationwide. She is also the only entrepreneur in this year’s 100-strong cohort whose business focuses specifically on the energy sector.
Operating from the London Museum of Water & Steam at Kew Bridge, Olsights develops digital intelligence tools that help organisations plan and deliver clean-energy projects more efficiently. Its platform connects data on electricity networks, infrastructure, markets, and policy to give developers and investors a clearer picture of where and how renewable projects can succeed.
Rosie said the recognition was “an enormous honour,” adding, “Being the only energy entrepreneur in this year’s cohort makes the recognition particularly meaningful. The transition to clean energy is not only an engineering challenge; it is also a data and decision-making challenge.”
A former chemical engineer in the international oil and gas industry, Rosie co-founded Olsights with her husband Tony Griffiths in 2020 after moving into technology and design. Her experience, she says, shaped the company’s inclusive culture: “We’re building a business that is commercially ambitious and environmentally positive, but also flexible, supportive and inclusive.”
Olsights has already collaborated with industry partners including SSEN Transmission and MapStand through Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund, and is a Certified B Corporation, reflecting its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
Rosie’s Women in Innovation project focuses on making Olsights’ technology more accessible through guided workflows and responsible AI. The aim is to allow users to ask complex energy questions in everyday language and receive clear, evidence-based answers—helping specialists spend less time gathering data and more time making decisions.
“Responsible AI offers an opportunity to make specialist information more accessible while keeping people in control of important decisions,” Rosie explained.
The Women in Innovation Awards, now in their tenth year, celebrate female founders driving economic and social impact across the UK. Innovate UK’s Head of Inclusive Innovation, Emily Nott, praised the cohort’s “extraordinary talent and unstoppable ambition,” while Executive Chair Tom Adeyoola described the group as “developing the ideas and businesses that will tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.”
Rosie hopes her success will inspire others locally. She said, “West London has an extraordinary combination of entrepreneurial talent, technical expertise and creativity. I hope this recognition encourages more women and girls in Brentford and across West London to see a future for themselves in engineering, technology and entrepreneurship.”
