A 22-year-old man from Brentford has been named as the victim of a fatal stabbing that took place earlier this week.

Eye-witnesses report that Dara Omar came out of the Menara Lounge, a Middle Eastern restaurant next to the Hounslow Muslim Centre when he witnessed an altercation at around 2:20pm on Monday 23 June.

He was attempting to mediate between two groups on Hanworth Road near the junction with School Road when he was injured with a knife. The emergency services were called and he was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital but died later of his wounds. His next of kin have been informed.

Although the fight took place outside the centre and the restaurant, there is nothing to indicate at this stage there was any connection between either and the two groups involved in the dispute.

A spokesperson for the Hounslow Muslim Centre said the police had asked it to close after the attacked and thanked the emergency services for their swift response.

Police have arrested four men as part of what is now a murder investigation.

27-year-old Kaywan Warzier Karim of Walnut Tree Road, Hounslow, was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon on Wednesday, 25 June, 33-year-old Tania Hamza of Kingsley Road, Hounslow, was charged on Thursday, 26 June with violent disorder and assisting an offender and 31-year-old Aziz Hama of Selbourne Ave, Hounslow was charged on the same day with assisting an offender. All three appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 26 June. 35-year-old Mohammed Ali, from Hounslow is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates Court on Saturday, 27 June charged with murder.

Det Ch Insp Wayne Jolley said: "My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly difficult time.

"This incident happened in a busy part of Hounslow during the middle of the afternoon. It's vital we hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the attack, the moments leading up to it, or the aftermath."

He also appealed for anyone with dash cam or mobile phone footage to contact the police.

Anyone who can assist the investigation team is asked to call 101 quoting 4387/22Jun or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org to remain anonymous.
