Brentford Development Could Be Named After Steve Curran
Council cabinet discusses future of Charlton and Albany House scheme

Hounslow Council is considering renaming the Charlton and Albany House redevelopment site in honour of its late former Leader, Steve Curran.
The proposal was raised during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday evening, (21 October) at which councillors unanimously approved the next steps for the housing scheme, including the commencement of the procurement process to appoint a main contractor. While no formal decision has yet been made regarding the site’s name, Councillor Tom Bruce suggested that it might be renamed “Steve Curran House,” subject to discussions with the Curran family and appropriate procedures.
Councillor Bruce described the idea as a fitting tribute to Curran’s longstanding commitment to improving housing provision in Hounslow. Curran, who led the Council from 2014 to 2022, was instrumental in advancing regeneration projects across the borough, with Charlton and Albany House identified early on as a priority site for redevelopment.
The suggestion received strong support from fellow Cabinet members. Councillor Katherine Dunne seconded the motion and expressed her wholehearted backing for the proposed name. Councillor Sampson also endorsed the idea, adding that other opportunities to commemorate Curran’s legacy might be explored in future.
The redevelopment project itself remains a key part of the Council’s housing strategy. An Outline Business Case recommending the delivery option will be brought forward following approval of the 2026 Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Business Plan.
