The inaugural meeting was held on June 29th 2012 and the full minutes can be downloaded.

During the meeting the key priorities were set and registered on the Community First website as:

  • Youth from 0-18 (widening access to existing programmes with practical and inclusive activites and clubs)
  • Vulnerable people (physically or mentally disabled or isolated) removing barriers to access to local assets.
  • Community cohesion (inter-generational and inter-ability relationship building and working through activites and clubs).

It was decided to invite (as the deadline for application was imminent) Brentford Toy Library to apply for funding for £1,000 for the Great Brentford Picnic and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust to apply for the balance for targeted summer events.

Draft Community Plan for Brentford:
Brentford is a town that is constantly in transition, with an estimated 10,000 new inhabitants to arrive when current developments with planning permission are built as well as two major developments not yet submitted that will add about 900 households each.

The infrastructure has not been developed alongside and there is a great need for community spaces both outdoors and indoors for all ages.

There are a number of supporting documents that look at differing areas of need and the important ones can be found at http://brentfordcommunity.org.uk/brentford-links/community-strategy/

Additional Info - I've attached a copy of feedback from CDF concerning the return of our community plan (which as mentioned, I had previously suggested we could have submitted to them by end of July and have now advised this will be August).
