Brentford conjured up a rubbish 1-0 defeat at Wycombe this evening which looks to have plunged the Bees to 18th position, just three points above the relegation places.

The decisive goal was a penalty taken by former Brentford striker Matt Harrold just after half-time after Karleigh Osborne was adjudged to have handled the ball.

Harrold later had a second penalty saved by Bees keeper Szczesny after James Wilson received a red card for a foul on Gareth Ainsworth.

Brentford gave a debut to 19 year old Arsenal loanee Rhys Murphy, who came on as a first half substitute for Charlie Macdonald, but was later subbed for Cleveland Taylor.

Overall this is a bloody awful result and makes the recent home draws against Millwall and Walsall look like vital points dropped.

From memory our form is something like 4 wins in 18 games in the league which frankly isn't good enough.

IN BRIEF SUMMARY - Keeper was excellent and about the only one to emerge with any credit. First pen maybe harsh, second nailed on - ditto red card for Wilson. Too many players underperformed and the youngsters Murphy and Bostock did little to shine. Karleigh defended pretty well but his distribution is poor and it got the moaners back on his back. Awful game, awful result and we didn't use the conditions to our advantage at all.

Bees - Szcyseny, Bean, Foster, Balkestein, Osborne, Wilson, O'Connor, Wood, Bostock (Cort), Macdonald (Murphy, Taylor), Strevens
