Twickenham Road was closed this Thursday (18 February) after a fire broke out in the basement of the Cinnamon Lounge Indian restaurant.

The alarm was raised by a member of staff who noticed smoke coming from the cellar door and rang 999. All five members of staff were evacuated from the building unharmed.

Four fire engines and twenty one firefighters attended the scene near the junction with Linkfield Road. London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the scene just after 4pm and they had the blaze under control under an hour later. Damage was confined to the basement.

Fire crews from Heston, Richmond, Twickenham and Chiswick fire stations attended the scene.

The cause is believed to have been an electrical fault.
