The police are seeking to locate the next of kin of a man in his sixties whose body was found in a canal in Brentford this Tuesday (4 October).

The discovery was made shortly before noon on the Grand Union Canal near some riverside warehouses near where the train tracks cross over.

Forensics teams were at the scene and, at the moment, the death is not being treated as suspicious although the circumstances of the death have not been determined.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, "On Tuesday, 4 October at 11:59hrs police were called to Grand Union Canal, Brentford to reports of a person in the canal. Emergence services attended and a man in his sixties was recovered from the water.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to contact his next of kin. A scene is in place. Enquiries continue"
