Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which occurred at the Rose and Crown pub on London Road on Saturday 1st August a 10.30pm.

The victim, a 33-year-old male, was in the rear yard of the pub when a fight broke out amongst a number of youths in the premises. He tried to intervene, and in doing so, was hit on the back of his head with something very heavy and was knocked unconscious. When he came to, he managed to get up but was then taken to hospital where it was found he was suffering from concussion and fractured skull.

The man suspected of the attack is described as white/mixed race, 18-25 years old, slim to medium build with short dark hair wearing a black jacket possibly leather with a white trim round the hood.
