Adult Education classes to start at CLC

Film-making, writing and gospel singing amongst courses on offer

Brentford City Learning Centre is launching its first courses aimed at adults - due to start w/c 4th October. 10 week courses in such diverse disciplines as screenwriting, digital photography, camcorder skills, conducting interviews for radio and gospel singing will run on a Monday and Tuesday evening from 7 - 9.30pm. Places on each course cost £100 for the 10 weeks.

Brentford CLC is a new community resource which opened in March 2004. The CLC specializes in providing multimedia and performance training to school students of all ages and members of the local community. All money raised is used to support projects which raise the work skills of young people in Hounslow.

 


Hounslow primary, secondary and special schools can use the CLC, its teachers and equipment for free. After school activities and courses for adults are run in the evenings and during school holidays. Local businesses can hire the CLC for conferences, presentations and IT training, making the CLC a real community resource.

Screenwriting

The screenwriting course will help you develop your initial story from a simple idea all the way to a finished script. With advice and tutoring from a professional Hollywood scriptwriter you will learn how to write, research, develop and market your script.
This is the perfect course for those with great ideas but no idea how to put them to paper.

10 week course running from Monday 4th October - 6th December 2004.
7pm - 9.30pm Monday evenings at the Brentford CLC.

Digital Photography

For all those who want to get the best from their digital cameras. Take more than your average holiday snap as this course examines subject, composition as well as digital manipulation using the latest Photoshop software. Lead by well established professional photographer this course is suitable for beginners who want to develop their basic photography skills.
10 week course running from Monday 4th October - 6th December 2004.
6pm - 9pm Monday evenings at the Brentford CLC.

Using Your Camcorder

Are you a budding filmmaker or perhaps you just want to give those home movies that professional touch? This course will explore the various features on modern digital camcorders as well as helping you to transfer your work to PC and edit to a professional standard using the latest Adobe Premiere software. The course will be delivered by an experienced tutor having past worked with creative and corporate projects.

Conducting Interviews for Radio

This course is designed for those wishing to develop interview skills for the media. Whether you're a budding journalist or part of a community radio project, the course will develop one on one interview techniques, vox pops as well as basic digital editing techniques using Adobe Audition (formally cool edit pro). You will create your own radio package which you can add to your show-reel or take back to your radio project.
The course will be run by an experienced tutor with a background in local and community radio projects.

Gospel Choir

This is a great course for anyone interested in Gospel music. Meet up with likeminded people and learn how to use your voice as part of a Gospel Choir. This course is open to anyone interested in Gospel music and not limited to any religious faith. So, if your addicted to Aretha or just want an uplifting way to chill out, this could be the course for you.
