Battle of the Bands

City Learning Centre puts local talent centre stage

Brentford City Learning Centre is looking for bands and singers to take part in a 'Battle of the Bands' competition on 12th October. Community bands and performers of all ages, as well as local secondary schools, are invited to attend an audition at the CLC. The six successful bands will then be given the opportunity to perform two pieces in front of an audience of approximately 500.

The City Learning Centre opened earlier this year. Located within Brentford School for Girls it is a state of the art training organisation that specialises in multimedia and performance training.

Hounslow primary, secondary and special schools can use the CLC, its teachers and equipment for free. After school activities and courses for adults are run in the evenings and during school holidays. Local businesses can hire the CLC for conferences, presentations and IT training, making the CLC a real community resource.

Manager Claire Boynton told www.brentfordTW8.com "this is a flagship event for the CLC to celebrate the opening of the centre. We are especially excited that the sound engineer for the 'Battle of the Bands' has just come back from working with the stars at the Reading festival. We want this to be a quality event, with only the very best performers; therefore competition will be very high"

"We welcome bands and singers of all genres. The evening should be a celebration of all types of music. The 'Battle of the Bands' is an integral part of our launch party designed to profile the work of the CLC and celebrate media and the performing arts. There will be break dancers, a gospel choir, stage make-up, DJ-ing, fire-eaters and stilt walkers. It really should be an evening to remember".

For further information or to book an audition, please phone 0208 568 7006, or email info@brentfordclc.com by September 24th at 4pm. The CLC website can be found here.

The launch party, which starts at 5pm, is open to everyone young and old alike and entry is free.
