A new outdoor Arts and Crafts Market at Boston Manor Park is set to open in 2021 and the public are being invited to give their views on how it should operate.

The market will aim to celebrate the creative talent of people in the borough, support local artists, makers and creative businesses by creating opportunities for them to sell their work and provide an enjoyable and inspiring destination for visitors from across west London and beyond.

The Arts and Crafts Market is one of several changes underway in Boston Manor Park. In 2017 London Borough of Hounslow was awarded funding by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to restore Boston Manor House, a Grade I listed Jacobean building with original decoration. From winter 2021 Boston Manor House will be open to the public 6 days a week and host a regular programme of events and activities for the community.

Greater London Authority’s ‘Good Growth Fund’ is supporting the fit-out of shared studios in the service wing of Boston Manor House for the arts and creative industries, as well as the development of an outdoor arts and crafts market under the M4 flyover which crosses over the park.

Boston Manor Park was also awarded funding by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to make improvements to the park landscape and the ground works, environment and utilities under the flyover.

Residents are being asked to share their thoughts on plans for the Arts and Craft Market and on what they would like to see and buy once it opens.

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Leisure Services at Hounslow Council said, “This is a great opportunity for local people to have a direct influence on our plans to develop an outdoor Arts & Crafts Market at Boston Manor Park.

“We have a diverse creative and cultural sector in the borough, and this is a great opportunity for us to showcase local talent and support local enterprise. We want to ensure that we have input from the local communities into what the market offers as its success will be determined by how popular it becomes and on how well it meets or exceeds the expectations of visitors.”
