Griffin Park got the farewell it deserved as the last ever game played there saw Brentford claim their place in the Championship Play-Off Final.

Two early goals quickly turned around the deficit from the first leg and nervousness only set in when Rhian Brewster scored for Swansea in the 78 minute.

The Bees now take the short trip to Wembley on Tuesday, 4 August with Fulham their opponents after they also defeated Welsh opposition in the shape of Cardiff.

It is the first time Brentford have ever reached a Championship Play-Off Final and they will be confident having beat Fulham home and away in the regular season.

A win would mean that the first competitive game at the new Lionel Road Stadium will be in the Premier League.

The performance against Swansea on Wednesday night was a return to the form they showed earlier on when fixtures resumed. A through ball from Mathias Jensen saw Ollie Watkins in to finish and then shortly afterwards a Said Benrahma cross was finished off by Emiliano Marcondes to put the home side ahead overall. Even when Swansea did create a chance Brentford broke quickly for Benrahma to hit the inside of the post. On 46 minutes Bryan Mbeumo added the third. Despite the Brewster goal and some late Swansea pressure Brentford held firm.

Some fans had congregated outside the ground watching the game on their mobile phones and others appeared later to celebrate the win and say a fond goodbye to the old stadium despite police warnings to stay away. Some noisy celebration took place without major incident and the supporters quickly dispersed.
