Local history project at Gunnersebury Park Museum
Gunnersbury Park Museum is calling for volunteers who have first-hand knowledge of the Second World War to come forward and share their stories and memories as part of a project to help preserve local history. The volunteers will be invited to attend at least one workshop on 12, 16 and 23 July, from 2- 4pm. The volunteers will also be given the opportunity to form a learning advisory group, which will be called upon at various times throughout the year to visit schools and other groups, as well as be available at Gunnersbury Park Museum to help bring the World War II collection alive. Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “I urge older people to volunteer for this programme as it will help to bridge the gap between young and old, while also opening up the museum’s World War II collection to a wider audience. It is important to preserve our history and this programme will help to do that.” Volunteers need to have interesting stories or memories that they’re willing to share. All volunteers are welcome, even if their memory of the Second World War was not experienced in the United Kingdom. If you are interested in taking part or would like more information, please contact Clare Paul on 0208 8825 9642 or 0771 142 5978 or via email paulc@ealing.gov.uk by 10am on Friday 28 June. The sessions will take place at Gunnersbury Park Museum. 25th June 2013 |
