For a unique opportunity to enjoy the English springtime – and help raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK at the same time – friends, families, young and old are invited to enjoy the magical surroundings of the House and Gardens at Syon Park, where the very popular annual Bluebell Walk takes place on Sunday 22nd May.

The 5 kilometre sponsored event is a great opportunity for walkers of all ages to view the beautiful, historic gardens and Syon House.

Caroline Stokes, the walk organiser reflects a little on the history of the Bluebell Walk:
“The Bluebell Walk has been raising money to fund research into cancer treatments for many years – this year we have the benefit of a stunning new venue and we hope more people than ever will join us to support Cancer Research UK. We are very grateful to the Duke of Northumberland and the team at Syon Park who have so generously welcomed the event to its new location. Please come and join us for what promises to be a great day out!”

The Bluebell Walk is one of the longest-running Cancer Research UK committee run events and means a lot to the people who participate as they often walk in memory or celebration of a loved one whose life has been touched by cancer.

Head Gardener Topher Martyn tells us a little more about the walk:
“We at Syon Park are delighted to welcome Cancer Research UK’s Bluebell Walk.  The route will pass through the Great Conservatory and Gardens, but will also cross areas which are normally private such as the Duchess’ Meadow behind Syon House, with views across the Thames to Kew Gardens.  All we need to organise now is the weather!”

Walkers can start at any time between 10.30 am and 3 pm and participants can take as long as they like to explore the gardens and also the house if they have bought combined tickets.  There will be a fun question trail and lots happening for all the family to take part in.  So please register now for a free fundraising pack and start getting sponsored for The Bluebell Walk 2011!
