To all Residents,

2012 is a year that we can all be proud of.  It was a magnificent year for the whole of the UK with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Olympic Torch Relay and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  Many of you took part in these events as supporters, organisers, torchbearers and Games Makers.

Locally, there have also been many other achievements - record exam results at many schools, the creation of five local Academies, 600 new businesses were registered and a reduction of 27% in the number of young people claiming Job Seekers’ Allowance.

In 2013, we need to build on this Olympic spirit and the pride in our country.  More people than ever before are taking part in sport but the Olympic legacy is also about boosting business opportunities, increasing volunteering and building communities.  I hope you will join with me in the year ahead to work together to make this happen.

Christmas is a time for family and my thoughts go out to all of those who are away from their loved ones over this festive period, especially those in the armed forces, including those currently serving in Afghanistan.

I would also like to pay special tribute to all those who have given up their time to look after others, particularly at this time of year. Your efforts are part of what makes Britain truly ‘Great’.  An additional thank you to the volunteers who will once again help with the ‘Pensioners Alone at Christmas’ Chiswick lunch on Christmas day - www.pensionersaloneatchristmas.com/contact.html

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
