Nicky Forster to be caretaker manager
Brentford Football Club announced earlier today that Andy Scott and Terry Bullivant would step down with immediate effect from their respective roles as First Team Manager and Coach of Brentford Football Club, although discussions continue to reach a mutual and amicable agreement.
The Club will now continue with a process to appoint a successor to Andy Scott. In the interim, Nicky Forster has agreed to take charge of the First Team with the assistance of Mark Warburton. 37 year old Nicky is in his second spell at the Club for whom he has made 162 scoring 48 goals in a career which has seen him gain experience over 721 appearances.
Sam Matterface, journalist for TalkSprt broke the news this morning at 11.29 via twitter saying
"As I mentioned y'day league one mgt change... Andy Scott leaves Brentford and is replaced in the interim by @nickyforster200. Good luck foz"
The official site remained silent until 5.17pm giving rumours plenty of time to germinate.
Sky Sports have suggested that Gary Johnson is interested in Brentford but that the club has, as yet, made no approach.
Brentford, who have not won a league game since 1 January, currently sit two points off the League One drop zone in 19th place.
Scott took over as boss in December 2007 following Terry Butcher's sacking and led them to the League Two title in his first full season in charge.
They finished ninth in League One the following year but have struggled to find the same form this term, winning only nine of their 27 league games.
Scott's exit comes just days before the Bees face Exeter in the second leg of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area final.
The 38-year-old former Brentford striker made 143 appearances for the club.
Scott was given the caretaker manager's role when Butcher was sacked, signing a five-year deal to take over permanently in January 2008.
Despite his early success, Scott has faced criticism this season following a string of poor results.
The Bees' last league win came against Dagenham & Redbridge on New Year's Day but they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat in the reverse fixture on Tuesday night.
