Exceptionally low volumes a cause for concern
The latest data released by the Land Registry shows that the average price in Brentford in January reached £281,394. This compares with October's record level of £329,722. The relatively small number of transactions that took place during the month makes it difficult to conclude which direction prices are going in but once again low volumes are going to be a source of concern. Only 15 transaction have been recorded so far for January less than an exceptionally quiet month in December. Although more properties are likely to be registered for the month it is unlikely that the final total will be of comfort to local estate agents. This data reflects prices and trends before the recent credit crunch so it is unlikely subsequent months are going to provide more encouraging data.
