Wow! This is my first monthly update since polling day on 7th May, and the result seems to be finally sinking in. It is the privilege of my life to represent you and the place I love on the Council, and I appreciate the vote of confidence many of you placed in me. I will not let you down. 

It has been a busy month of training, meetings, and casework. In addition to the most important aspect of the job – helping you with any issues you might have with the Council and working to ensure our area is as clean and green as possible – I also now sit on the Planning Committee as Vice Chair, on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and the Brentford and Syon Area Forum.  

As somebody who has worked on planning issues in the past, I understand the planning system well and hope I can add some value to proceedings through effective scrutiny of applications. More on that in the next update! Regarding the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, I welcome any thoughts on where you think the Council should consider new policy or amend existing policy, for consideration by the Committee. I was out and about in the ward and our town this month doing various things when not at Hounslow House. I had my first advice surgery at Brentford Library and Community Hub – you can catch me there on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month between 10:00 and midday (I took a picture for posterity). I also spent a boiling hot Sunday lunchtime cutting back vegetation up on the Beeline, which was hugely satisfying. It was my second volunteering session up there, and the change in just a few months is dramatic. Volunteers are doing an amazing job to help make this space usable in the future - get in touch if you want to help.  

I also accompanied one of our Estate Improvement Officers on an estate inspection around Burden Close. It is a well-maintained estate but has a problem with parking, with patrons from The Globe often parking up there. I will be working with the team to help resolve this issue. 

It wouldn’t be a monthly update without some casework wins: 

- Getting the foliage in the alleyway between Brentford Station and Windmill Road cut back. 

- Identifying a redundant yellow line outside The Griffin pub which will be removed, creating more space for parking. 

- Liaising with the team at SW Railway regarding the lift alarm on the weekend of 23-24 May. 

- Highlighting some plans submitted by the developers of Great West House on public and active travel use and managing deliveries/servicing the site to residents.
