Metropolitan Police

Brentford ward

Priorities set by Ward Panel:
Drug Dealing - We conduct a number of warrants as a result of intelligence from a number of sources within the local community.
Burglary - All burglaries are investigated by ward officers and the immediate vicinity is leaflet dropped by PCSOs. We pay close attention to emerging Hotspots.
Anti-social behaviour - All hotspots are regularly patrolled, and the police
CCTV van is regularly deployed to prevent/deter offences. Police monitor issues via Airspace and regularly update victims/informants.

Current locations of concern:

Clayponds Estate:
The officers have been conducting regular High Visibility patrols in the area to tackle ASB in its various forms. Officers have enforced the CDZ and advised a number of residents to stop drinking or move elsewhere. This has made the estate a less attractive venue for street drinking and ASB. We continue to urge residents to call police if they come across any form of ASB.

Haverfield Estate:
We’ve worked in partnership with the estate wardens and managed to reduce of calls coming through re ASB. We are continuing to pay close attention to this area and task officers to conduct regular high visibility patrol

Syon Ward

Priorities set by Ward Panel:
Burglary - All burglaries investigated by response team officers with follow-up enquiries by PCSOs. We maintain regular patrols using predictive statistics to identify emerging hot-spots. Burglaries have been steadily reducing across the ward with only 13 reported over the last 12 weeks. Work has been done to improve communication with our NW (neighbourhood watch) coordinators through regular update letters which has been pivotal in getting the good news out to our residents, thus reducing the fear of crime and improving confidence.
Theft of Pedal Cycle - No pedal cycles have been reported as stolen since 23/1/15. The team has been proactive in giving out crime prevention advice to all cyclists and DWO Brentnall has arranged several successful cycle marking initiatives. PCSO Holmes-Yarde has focused on giving out CP (Crime Prevention) advice whilst on school patrols.
Anti-social behaviour - All hotspots are regularly patrolled, and the police CCTV van is regularly deployed to prevent/deter offences. Police monitor issues via Airspace and regularly update victims/informants. The team has maintained regular contact with victims to enable them to prioritise ASB locations and times making their patrols more effective. Working with Brentford SNT dedicated patrols around Albany Road/Parade and Brentford High Street have resulted in a marked decrease in Airspace entries. Positive feedback from Hounslow Warden Eric Samuels that reports of ASB in Berkeley House and Charlton House have decreased significantly and there is a marked decrease in street drinking following the team’s proactive enforcement of the CDZ (Controlled Drinking Zone).

Current locations of concern:

Somerset Road/The Butts. There has been a marked increase in motor vehicle crime across the whole ward. However, this has been concentrated in Somerset Road/The Butts area and Syon Park Car Park. Met Police Crime Prevention signage and notice boards have been placed in the above areas and liaison with Hilton Hotel in Syon has taken place to ensure that guests using car park leave no valuables in their vehicles. Increased patrols to the areas by SNT will continue. Our sector intelligence officer has been tasked to put forward any possible suspects.

Brentford High Street/ Albany Parade
Following the positive impact on the area and the immediate surroundings dedicated patrols will continue to reinforce the CDZ.

West Middlesex Hospital
West Middlesex hospital is a hotspot for violence with injury crimes and contributes over 30% of the total violence with injury crimes reported across the ward. Many of these crimes are directed at staff, which is unacceptable. On duty Chiswick Sector SNT is providing dedicated visits to A&E on Friday and Saturday nights to provide a visible presence and support the in-house security staff. Syon SNT is conducting weekly dedicated patrols to Lakeside Mental Health Unit.
