An application (P/2023/1974) has been submitted to Hounslow Council to build a large self-storage facility on the junction of Ealing Road and Great West Road.

The facility, which would be on the vacant site next to the Premier Inn would be operated by Karbon and include 446sqm of industrial workspace and incubator units on the first two floors.

Visualisations submitted with the application suggest the building would be a similar height to the hotel and the building on the opposite side of Ealing Road.

There would be no access to the self-storage units in the building from Ealing Road. Customers would need to turn left off the Great West Road to a reception point on the west side of the building.

The dark coloured building was designed by Threesixty Architecture for the company which is owned by investment management firm EQT Exeter which is looking to expand the Karbon brand across the country.

Built floorspace will comprise 3,349sqm GIA but this can be increased to 7544sqm GIA through the use of demountable mezzanine floors.

The site was once a part of the wider Alfa Laval and Baltic Centre complex, which since its demolition in 1996 has been redeveloped in fragments including the Premier Inn.

Permission had been granted in 2019 for a thirteen story office building on the site but this lapsed in 2022 after a lack of interest in the space and the owner going out of business.
