At the end of Mental Health Awareness Week , Isleworth & Syon School is pleased to announce its latest commitment to students’ mental health.

On Friday the school launched its Wellbeing Hub on the school website at The page offers a number of useful resources for both students and families, all focused on supporting wellbeing. New resources will be added periodically for the rest of the year. A weekly Wellbeing Advice Service has also started, run by Mind for students in Years 9, 10 and 11, and a particularly useful resource right now as public examination season starts. The service provides confidential and personalised mental health support for students and has already had an excellent response from within the community.

Other initiatives include assemblies, workshops, and appearances at Parents’ Evenings. It is this intention to develop this provision even further in the next few years.

This has come about as a result of the school's work with the mental health charity Mind this academic year, as a pilot school in their Whole School Approach Project. This scheme pilots a new way of looking after the mental health of everyone involved in the school community. It began with a confidential survey to ask the community for their mental health thoughts; these results were then shared with focus groups of students, staff and parents/carers. From that, a plan was created to promote good mental health and wellbeing within the school. More details can be found at the above link.

Headteacher Mr Ferguson commented, “We have been delighted to work with Mind this year, as we are totally committed to ensuring that we do as much as we can to support our students’ wellbeing. We have no doubt that this work enhances further the outstanding pastoral care offered to all of our students”.
