Borough of Hounslow Relatively Calm Last Night
Councillor Jagdish Sharma, Leader of the Council: "I want to thank everyone for their help and support yesterday and last night which resulted in our town centres being very quiet and the police being able to work effectively across the borough. We had no major disturbances and the police dealt very quickly with the few minor incidents of disorder. "I want to thank the Borough Commander, Chief Superintendent David Bilson, and his team in particular. The police were highly visible in our town centres and at our retail parks yesterday and overnight and I know how much this was appreciated by residents. "I also want to thank everyone who heeded the request to stay out of the town centres last night and the parents and carers who did ensure that our children and young people were in a safe place and the community leaders who used their influence positively to maintain calm. "We will continue to work very closely with the police, fire service and other partners to monitor the situation locally and to support residents and businesses as needed. We will keep up this work for as long as is necessary. "In the meantime, I urge young people and other residents right across the borough to continue to refrain from taking part in the kind of criminal behaviour which regretfully we continue to see elsewhere in the country."
