Local amateur dramatic group The St. Faith’s Players are holding auditions for parts in its next production.

Any one over 18 interested in being involved in a production of The Titfield Thunderbolt should go along to St. Faith’s Church on Windmill Road on Wednesday 7 February at 7.30pm. You are advised to wear warm clothes!

There are parts for men and women and new members are always very welcome.

The play, which is adapted from the classic Ealing Comedy film, is to be performed from 9-11 May. It tells the story of a group of villagers who, angered by a decision to close down their local branch line, decide to run the service themselves.

As well as convincing the railway authorities that they're competent enough to work the line, they have to face skullduggery and other misdemeanours from Vernon Crump, who’s set on providing a competitive bus service.

St Faith’s Players started performing in St Faith’s Church Hall in 1977 with a concert to celebrate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. Since then hundreds of people have taken to the boards, built sets, painted scenery and sewn costumes to keep the shows coming, with an annual pantomime a hightlight.

It aims to put on at least two productions each year, ranging from drama to comedy, thriller to Music Hall – all interspersed with a variety of social activities and fund raising events.
