Crews from a number of pubs across the area are currently in training for this year’s Brentford Pub Gigs Regatta.

Organised by the Brentford Community Boat House as part of a Community Open Day on Saturday 28 June, the event begins with junior racing from 10am to noon.

Then there will be the Cornish Gig Regatta from 1pm, which revives Brentford’s historic regatta tradition, originally founded in 1849 and famously linked to the birth of Brentford Football Club.

In the lead-up to the event, which is designed for beginners, Brentford Community Boathouse is offering coaching sessions on Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25, and Thursday 26 June.

Crews from the Lord Nelson, the Kings Arms, the Watermans Arms and the Black Dog will be taking part as well as the Animaniacs, the Legends of Land and Water and the Gig Apprentices.

There will be live music on the waterfront throughout the proceedings.

A presentation ceremony will take place at 3:30pm before the conclusion of the day at 4pm.
