Climate crisis film was being shown at St. Paul's Church
October 30, 2026 Ruth Cadbury MP has joined residents in Brentford for a community screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing, a 50-minute public information film designed to raise awareness of the escalating climate and nature crisis. The event, held at St Paul’s Church, brought together local attendees for both the screening and a discussion on the film’s themes and the wider implications of climate change. The film is part of a national initiative to make expert evidence on climate risks accessible to the public. According to organisers, the original National Emergency Briefing “brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster.” The condensed public version has been touring venues across the UK, encouraging local conversations about the impacts of extreme weather, biodiversity loss and economic vulnerability. Speaking after the event, the MP for Brentford & Isleworth said she was “pleased to be able to attend this screening,” describing the film as a powerful reminder of the scale of the challenge ahead. “The film showed the risk that extreme weather poses to our public health, our food security and our economy,” she said. Ms Cadbury praised the strong turnout in Brentford and noted that recent screenings in Isleworth and Whitton had also drawn large audiences. “People locally want to see political leaders doing the right thing,” she said, highlighting her own record on climate issues. She pointed to her 2019 vote to declare a climate emergency, her support for overturning the ban on new onshore wind farms, and her work to improve public transport and safe cycling routes. “I know that there is much more to do to tackle this crisis,” she added. “I will continue to work to ensure we take the action needed.” Further information about the National Emergency Briefing is available at nebriefing.org.
