Graduating BA Musical Theatre students from London College of Music, University of West London, present their summer season of shows at Watermans Theatre, Brentford, and Lawrence Hall, University of West London. Oh, What A Lovely War! Directed by Marc Urquhart 23-26 April, 7.30pm The classic British musical Oh, What A Lovely War! commemorates the centenary of the outbreak of World War 1. Featuring many famous songs of the period, and presented as a music hall revue, the show is a satirical and poignant take on “the war to end all wars”. Merrily We Roll Along Directed by Simon Greiff 30 April – 3 May, 7.30pm The Stephen Sondheim musical comedy Merrily We Roll Along charts, in reverse chronological order, the rise to success of an influential songwriter and producer and the choices he makes in order to further his career. Merrily We Roll Along has recently enjoyed a hugely successful West End run and features some of Sondheim’s best-loved songs. Ordinary Days Directed by David Henson 21 – 24 May, 7.30pm Off-Broadway hit show Ordinary Days examines the extraordinary connections that exist between a seemingly unrelated group of young city dwellers. Ordinary days will play in LCM’s new purpose-built performance venue, Lawrence Hall, St. Mary’s Road, Ealing. This year’s LCM BA Musical Theatre students have presented three highly successful productions of Salad Days, The Biograph Girl and Bel-Ami at Watermans Theatre; the latter becoming the first ever university show to transfer to the West End (Charing Cross Theatre). The London College of Music (LCM) is the largest specialist music and performing arts institution in the UK and has a rich heritage of over 120 years, recently diversifying to offer courses in musical theatre, musical direction, new writing, theatre design, technology and acting. The three year BA Musical Theatre focuses on acting through song within a conservatoire environment. New writing is placed at the heart of the curriculum with one large-scale new musical theatre work commissioned each year. Recent alumni have gone on to appear in the West End, UK and European tours.
