Brentford getting set for the biggest art trail yet
June 9, 2026 Artist registration has opened for Creative Mile 2026, Brentford’s annual art trail, returning this September with an expanded programme, new venues and a major partnership with the National Gallery. Creatives of all kinds are being encouraged to sign up before the Monday 15 June deadline to take part in what organisers say will be the busiest year yet. The trail runs from Friday 4 September (6–9pm) and continues across the weekend on 5 and 6 September (11am–5pm), transforming Brentford into a walkable celebration of local talent. More than 130 artists and makers are expected to exhibit their work in studios, historic buildings, industrial spaces, museums, churches, cafés, pubs and even on a Thames Ait. All venues are free for visitors, and many are not usually open to the public. This year’s trail includes the launch of Art on Your Doorstep, a new outdoor exhibition created in partnership with the National Gallery. Reproductions of masterpieces by artists such as Van Gogh, Turner and Degas will be installed throughout the town, inviting residents and visitors to encounter world-famous artworks in everyday spaces. Organisers expect the collaboration to draw record crowds, building on last year’s estimated 10,000 visitors. Creative Mile is known for its eclectic mix of venues and its inclusive approach. Artists without studios in Brentford can be matched with exhibition spaces, ensuring that anyone — from painters and sculptors to ceramicists, photographers, textile artists and digital creators — can take part. “Creative Mile reflected everything I love about London: diversity, creativity, inclusion, eccentricity, energy and fun,” said one participating artist from the 2025 trail. Founded in 2021 by Brentford-based artist Mark Pearce, Creative Mile is run by the Creative Mile Community Interest Company, a not-for-profit organisation led by local creatives. The trail has become central to Brentford’s growing identity as an arts destination, encouraging residents to explore the town’s cultural spaces and offering opportunities for schools, older residents, community groups and local businesses to get involved. The event’s grassroots ethos is key to its success: it is built by the community, for the community, and showcases the breadth of artistic talent that thrives in Brentford’s studios, workshops and hidden corners. Artist registration is now open, with organisers encouraging early sign-ups to benefit from ongoing publicity and inclusion in this year’s promotional campaign. All forms of creativity are welcome, and everyone is invited to participate. For more information about registration email info@creativemile.org.
