The recycling banks in Morrisons car park on Brentford High Street are due to close permanently today (11th July).

They have been removed following a request from the supermarket chain to Hounslow.

A Council spokesman said: “The recycling banks are being removed at the request of Morrisons due to problems with fly tipping. We’ve offered to work with Morrisons to make it less easy to dump items there. However, the supermarket has asked us to remove the site altogether.

“Residents can recycle most items they would normally take to the Morrisons site using the home collection service.

“Over the last couple of years we’ve introduced electrical items and clothes and shoes recycling from some larger blocks of flats in the borough and where residents feel this would be useful from their block of flats, we would be happy to look at whether it is possible to do this. Visit www.hounslow.gov.uk/recycling for more information.”

We have asked Morrisons for a comment but have yet to receive a response.
