A billboard outside the new Lidl store on High Street Brentford has revealed its long-awaited opening date.

There has been no official confirmation from the company, but the poster shows a picture of a large pineapple along with the words, ‘drummm rolllll, opens 5 June’ which is a Thursday.

This comes nearly six months after planning approval was given for the changes required to the former Morrisons even though only relatively minor external works and refurbishments were needed to the existing building and car park. These included installing a new shop front, altering doors and windows, and resurfacing the car park to comply with current regulations .

The Brentford Lidl is expected to create approximately 40 new jobs and will feature a sales area of 1,439 square meters, including a bakery, the "Middle of Lidl" section, and customer facilities .

So far this year, Lidl has already opened multiple new stores in London, including locations in Canning Town and West Ealing.

The company has announced a £500 million investment aimed at opening over 40 new stores across the UK this financial year.

The new store is expected to offer significant competition to the relocated Morrisons further up the High Street.
