After years of false starts Euphrates is the site's latest venture
December 12, 2025 The long-running saga of restaurants at Busch Corner, on the Brentford–Isleworth border, may be entering a new chapter with the arrival of a Middle Eastern and Arabic restaurant and market called Euphrates. The site, at the busy crossroads with London Road, has seen a succession of ventures come and go in recent years. The former Hookah Lounge lost its licence after complaints about late-night music, leaving the premises vacant until autumn 2024 when two new restaurants opened: Nosh, a burger bar, and La Jawaab, a Pakistani restaurant. Despite offering different menus, the two appeared to share a kitchen and marketing materials. Locals noted that footfall was low, and by late 2025 both had closed, their interiors gutted and shuttered. Now, signs of life have returned. In recent weeks, shelving and chiller cabinets have been delivered, and new signage has gone up announcing the name Euphrates, after the river in the Middle East. The owner, who declined to give his name, told passers-by that the merged premises will house a restaurant specialising in shawarma and roast chicken on one side, and a market and bakery on the other. The concept draws on the area’s history of diverse food culture but also seeks to fill a gap and there is more optimism locally that this latest venture might endure. One neighbour said, “ I have to say I have a good feeling this time. Especially for the market which I really feel is something this particular parade is genuinely lacking and could be a huge boon for the area. Especially as if you want any products from that particular part of the world you currently have to schlep all the way down London Road into central Hounslow to get them! “My wife and I are particularly excited to see they are intending to supply Zatar bread, which we absolutely adore.” The site has proved challenging for operators, with high visibility but limited customer loyalty. Yet the combination of restaurant and market may give it a broader appeal than previous ventures, tapping into both dining and shopping needs.
