Police investigating the stabbing of two people, one fatally, in Brentford on Friday evening (12 November) have made an arrest.

A man in his thirties has been detained by detectives investigating fatal stabbing on suspicion of murder and attempted murder on the morning of Saturday, 13 November. He has been taken into custody at a London police station.

The police say they were called to Albany Parade at 7.50pm and found a man believed to be 20-years-old with stab injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although he has not been formally identified, the police believe they know his name and are providing support to his family.

An 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital suffering stab injuries. Initially her condition was deemed to be critical but, although it remains serious it has now been assessed as not life-threatening. It is understood she was walking home after visiting a friend and initially thought she had been pushed rather than stabbed.

The investigation is now led by homicide detectives from Specialist Crime. A police cordon remains in place around Albany Parade and Albany Road outside the Best Kebab and Fish Bar. Reportedly the male victim attemped to get help there after being stabbed.

Officers say that there is nothing to suggest that the incident is linked to terrorism and at present nobody else is sought as a suspect for the stabbings.

Enquires are also ongoing to establish whether any of those involved were known to each other.

DCI Brain Howie, Specialist Crime, said, “A number of cordons remain in place in and around Albany Parade, Albany Road and the surrounding area. Any local people who have information or concerns should speak with officers working at these location.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or had any interaction with the suspect near the scene but has yet to speak with police. Also, anyone who may have footage, whether from doorbells, dashcams or mobile devices, is also urged to check that material and make contact with police should there by anything relevant to our investigation.”

Cllr Katherine Dunne, Cabinet Member for Communities and Climate Emergency, said, "This is sad, distressing news and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the deceased and the injured woman. This kind of crime is very rare in Hounslow, and we join the police in appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call the police.”

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call 101 ref 6423/12nov. To remain anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers.
