Hopes that the retail space in the Brentford Project development may be gaining some momentum have been boosted by the announcement that Holland & Barrett is planning a summer opening.

According to Richard Pearce of Ballymore, the health and wellbeing chain has signed a lease to take the unit next to Specsavers on the High Street.

This comes after the closure of other businesses within the development with hairdressers Cutbox having recently followed Hewsons Books in departing.

The fit out of the new store is due to start shortly and it is scheduled to open in July.

Existing retailers and hospitality businesses have raised concerns about low footfall in the development but it is hope that the opening of the Everyman Cinema will provide a catalyst for more people to visit the area and encourage other tenants such as Pret a Manger to accelerate their plans to open.
