School records tumble in banner year for students

Chiswick School have achieved excellent GCSE results for the third year running.
92% of Chiswick Community School students achieved 5 GCSE or equivalents at grades A* to C in a school record for this measure, whilst 60% achieved 5 A*/C grades including English and Maths.
The percentage of students achieving the English Baccalaureate, the government’s new measure rose 2% on last year up to 26%. This is the third year running that the ‘including English and Maths’ benchmark has come in around 60% dispelling any doubts that the leap in examination results three years ago at the school was a flash in the pan.
There were some outstanding results from individual students. Chris Whitehouse achieved a record 10 A stars plus an A in additional maths and will be continuing his studies at Chiswick. James Carty achieved an astonishing 9 A stars. He said ‘I feel really ecstatic and am looking forward to studying at Chiswick Sixth Form next year’.

Tiago Cavalcanti gained 8A stars with 2 As. ‘I am totally exhilarated’, said Tiago. ‘ I actually got full marks in Chemistry. I am going on to study the Sciences and Maths at A level.’

‘I prepared for the worst’, said Bryony Abbott who achieved 6 A stars 3As and 3Bs. ‘I am delighted now and will be studying History, English and Art at A level.

‘I am delighted that the school continues to achieve at such a high level’, said Tony Ryan, Chiswick’s headteacher. “When taken with the fantastic A Level results achieved last week, it is proof that the school continues it’s upward projectory. Congratulations to the students for their tremendous achievements and well done to the staff for all their hard work. We will be working hard to improve results even more next year’.
