Workshops and theatre productions to keep the young entertained
Come and have some half term fun at Watermans with some exciting new shows and workshops for children and young people of all ages. From creating your own scary masks & graphic horror comics, to spending a Sunday afternoon at the theatre, there’s something for everyone. Details of all the available activities are highlighted below: WORKSHOPS Halloween Mask Making Workshop for children aged between 7-12 years. Date/Time: 30th October 2013-10am-12.30pm Watermans, Studio 2 Participants: 15 Tickets: £10 (£8 Conc.) Friends £9 (£7.Conc.) Design, create and make your own 3-dimensional scary Halloween mask, from a choice of designs. Participants will have great fun using recycled materials to make a terrifying Halloween mask. This is an opportunity for participants to explore their creativity through crafts, discover new materials, and enjoy quality time and fun with their peers. The workshop will be led by artist educator, Miriam Báez who specialises in developing and running creative workshops for children and young people, families, schools and community groups. She specialises in art, craft, and photography. ‘I love working with young people and being able to teach them something new, they always surprise me.’ Basic resources are provided, but if you have any recycled materials you want to add to your mask, please bring them along- with a picture of your favourite Halloween inspired character. Create Your Own Graphic Horror Comic for young people aged 13-18 years. Tickets: £10 (£8 Conc.) Friends £9 (£7 Conc.) A lead artist from Chocolate Films will facilitate an inspiring and creative workshop, working with the programme Comic Life. Participants will create ghoulish characters and creepy environments to develop horrible Halloween themed storyboards. Young people will devise Halloween, vampire or horror inspired graphic comic strips. At the end of the session, the comic strips will be uploaded to both Chocolate Film and Watermans websites, and appear on facebook/twitter. Watermans will pick the best comic strip(s); to be colour printed, framed and exhibited in the foyer of Watermans during November 2013. Chocolate Films is a South London based social enterprise video production company offering extensive film and digital media based workshops for wide ranging groups; drawing from their expertise and innovative technology.
