Police seek woman who got on train at Northfields
Passengers on board a Piccadilly Lane train from Northfields to Hammersmith detained a man believed to have assaulted a woman.
The incident happened on Saturday, 31 January, between 11.30pm and midnight.
A man was seen to board the service between Northfields and Hammersmith, with a woman and had his arms around her as if they were a couple. They sat down and the man appeared to place his hand under her clothing.
Members of public were alerted by his actions, and when the man was challenged as to his relationship with the woman, he put his hand over her mouth so she wasn’t able to answer.
She was heard by passengers to say ‘help me’. The man was detained by other passengers, before being arrested by police. The woman left Hammersmith station without leaving details.
PC Paul Franklin said: “I am really keen to trace the woman who was allegedly assaulted. If you were travelling on this train and witnessed this incident, please get in touch with BTP. Any information could prove vital to this investigation.”
A 24-year-old man from Wembley has been arrested on suspicion of assault and sexual assault . He has been bailed until Wednesday, 25 February.
