A massive poster and social media campaign is underway in the hunt for missing Hanwell teenager Alice Gross.

The 14-year-old left her home last Thursday afternoon and hasn't been seen since.

Her family say it's completely out of character and are desperate to find her.

The local community has rallied round and a Facebook page, “Find Alice Gross” has been set up - now with over 2,700 members.

An official poster has been circulated for people to print and distribute, with ideas about where to post them.

The Londis shop on Greenford Avenue is “poster HQ” with spare copies for people to collect and distribute. Local residents are helping put the posters up throughout Ealing and areas beyond.

Celebrities are also helping spread the message via the social media channel twitter.

Police have been searching for Alice using the police helicopter, specialist officers and dog handlers and will be continuing throughout the (Sunday). Posters and more appeals are expected at the Mela taking place at Gunnersbury Park today.

Detective Sergeant David Stokes said: "Her disappearance is totally out of character as she has never been missing before. She left her money, bank cards and Oyster card at home after just apparently walking out with no explanation as to where she was going. She has had no contact with her small network of friends or family since. Her phone is turned off which is very unusual and her Facebook page is inactive. There have been no sightings of her or CCTV footage caught of her which adds to the seriousness of the situation.''

Police are concerned she may have fallen ill or hurt herself and appealing to anyone walking dogs or in parks to contact them if they see anything.

Alice is white, 5 feet 2 inches tall and of slim build with shoulder length, light brown hair.

When last seen, she was wearing dark blue jeans, a dark green lacy cardigan and denim blue 'Vans' shoes. She may have tartan-framed spectacles with her.

Police are especially concerned about Alice who has not been in good health recently.

Officers are conducting extensive enquires, including searches and house-to-house enquiries in the Hanwell area.

Anyone who has seen Alice or has information that may assist the investigation should call officers from Ealing Missing Persons Unit on 020 8246 1018 or 101. Alternatively call the charity Missing People on 116000.
