Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision in Brentford which has left a woman in a critical condition.

The incident occurred on Monday 11 April just before 7.00pm on The Great West Road, Brentford, at the junction with Boston Manor Road. There had been a collision between a female pedestrian and a silver Honda Civic.

The victim, a local woman in her 40s, was treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and a helicopter. She was taken to West London hospital where she remains in a life-threatening condition.

The driver of the car, who stopped at the scene, was arrested and later interviewed. He has been bailed to return at a date in June pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Harry Wilkinson, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am grateful for the number of people who stopped at the scene to assist the emergency services that night.

"This junction would have been very busy with both pedestrians and vehicles at that time and I would urge anyone who may have seen either party in the moments leading up to the collision, or the collision itself, to contact Police."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Road Death Investigation Unit at Hampton Traffic Garage's witness appeal line on 020 8941 9011, or anonymously through Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
