People in west London now have a place to turn to 24 hours a day when they or someone they care for is experiencing a mental health crisis.

The service, provided by West London Mental Health NHS Trust, gives access to clinical support, advice for families, and information about mental health services 365 days a year.

The line is staffed by trained mental health advisors who are able to offer clinical interventions over the phone and are knowledgeable about different services and options.

It currently receives an average of 700 calls per month, around 8% of which are from people experiencing an immediate mental health crisis.

Programme Manager, Michael Doyle, said: “Patients told us they would really value this kind of immediate, round-the-clock support, and it’s already proving to be an important service. Our staff listen to callers’ concerns and give them the help and advice they need, no matter what time it is or where they are.”

People can access the support line by calling 0300 1234 244.
