The 2013 West Thames College HND Specialist Makeup Final Show took place on Monday 3 June and was a resounding success. The talented students presented their weird and wonderful creations to a packed audience of friends, family and industry professionals. The themes included: pop art and comic strip characters, punk and movies.

The show, entitled Guerrini, was dedicated to one of our former award-winning makeup students, Tascia Guerrini who sadly passed away from liver cancer in March this year. Tascia was the winner of the prestigious IMATS (International Makeup Artists Trade Show) Competition in 2008 and went on to have a successful career as a freelance makeup artist.

The showcase was the result of two years’ hard work and featured body painting, handmade wigs, hairstyling, costume, makeup, prosthetics and special effects.

The show was well attended by industry professionals including representatives from Illamasqua, Brides and Beauty, Tamara Makeup and Luke Stephens Makeup who tweeted after the show: “Such a fab show! Beautiful and such talented students @WestThames.”

Recent graduates from the course include Emmy Beech who has since worked on commercials for Heineken, British Airways, John Lewis and car manufacturer, Kia and several television programmes such as The Wright Stuff, The One Show and Something for the Weekend. Others have been snapped up to work for the BBC, West End theatre productions, retailers such as Bobbi Brown, film productions and photoshoots for top magazines.
