The new Elizabeth Line (or Crossrail as we used to know it) is due to open from 2018. The new east-west link across London will change commuting patterns for money.

TfL are therefore consulting about changes to buses to reflect the expected changes so that the Elizabeth Line stops are well served by buses.

Elizabeth Line

The only change that impacts Brentford is the proposed extension of the 112 bus from Brent Cross at existing frequencies. This currently terminates at Ealing Broadway. The proposal is for the bus to continue from Ealing Broadway down South Ealing road, past South Ealing tube station, contine west along the A4 and terminate at Osterley Tesco. The scheme is dependent upon the provision of a bus stand and turning facility being provided at Gillette Corner. TfL are in discussion with LB Hounslow and developers over this.

112 bus route

It is hoped that this extension will take some pressure off the 65 bus route.

It would give easier access for many students in north Brentford or Ealing to the schools off Syon Lane. TfL have confirmed that the route from the A4 would be up Harlequin Avenue, through the Sky Campus and down Grant WAy to stand at the back of the Tesco Extra. The buses would then use the roundabout at the end to turn round and head back via the same route.

See a summary of the proposed changes to bus routes and the detailed changes. Diamond Geezer has written a very accessible post on what these changes might mean that is worth reading.

The consultation is open until Sunday 17 September 2017. You can fill in the online survey, email consultations@tfl.gov.uk or write to FREEPOST TFL CONSULTATIONS
