Comment on this story on the

Drugs

On Sunday 10th October Brentford SNT police officers stopped a male on Brentford High Street who started to act strangely in the officer’s presence. He was then searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and was found to be in possession of £500. The astute officers knew there was more to this than met the eye and brought the male back to Brentford Police Station for a strip search. He was found to have a ball of crack hidden in his underwear which contained 4 packs of 80 rocks of drugs. He was then arrested for Possession with intent to supply Class A Drugs.

Brentford Safer Neighbourhood Team has conducted 2 drug warrants in the past month on address within Brentford.

Burglary

Brentford ward continues to have a very low rate of reported offences.  But we wish to remind everyone not to let their guard down and that now the nights are drawing in even earlier, crimes like Burglary and Theft from Motor Vehicles often have an increase. We are currently doing what we can to stop this before Brentford suffers a large amount of these offences. We work very closely with Hounslow Council and the Community Payback Team and if there is anything you would like tell us we will only be more than willing to listen and ultimately try to combat the problem.

If you are concerned about your own property’s security, we wish to remind everyone that we can arrange a visit to your home to carry out a security inspection and if necessary replace or install door and window locks.  Any work carried out would be free of charge for the over 60s, the disabled, single parents and the vulnerable.

More Good News

On Saturday 9th October Brentford SNT held a Bike Marking event at Boston Manor Park alongside the Sports Jam event organized by Brentford Football Club. This was a great success and marked over 25 bikes and handed out over 30 free bike locks to children under the age of 12.

If you would like us to organize a bike marking event (100% free) with you or your company then please let us know.

With the continued help from local residents we have also found and recovered and restored two LOS (Lost or Stolen) Vehicles to their rightful owners. They were collected by us and forensically examined in the hope that we can catch and prosecute the offenders. If you ever have the smallest amount of suspicion about a vehicle please do not hesitate to contact us.

Fireworks

As the season for fireworks is upon us we wish to remind everyone about the current legislation surrounding them

  • Throwing fireworks or setting off fireworks in public places – Section 80 of the Explosives Act 1875 prohibits throwing or setting off fireworks on any highway, street, thoroughfare or public place (for example, local parks, streets, car parks and bus stations).
  • Possession of ‘adult fireworks’ by anyone under the age of 18 in a public place – this offence was introduced via emergency legislation in 2003 and made permanent by regulation 4 of the Fireworks Regulations 2004. Adult fireworks are any except for a cap, cracker snap, novelty matches, party poppers, serpents and throw downs.
  • Possession of category 4 fireworks (public display fireworks) by anyone other than a firework professional – Category 4 fireworks are clearly marked and this offence was made permanent by regulation 5 of the Fireworks Regulations 2004.
  • Curfew on firework use – It is illegal to set off fireworks after 11pm (except on 5 November when they can be used up to midnight; and New Year’s Eve, Chinese New Year and Diwali when they can be used up to 1am the following day.)
