Refugees Welcome Hounslow are holding their AGM and Volunteering Information evening next Monday, 29th October and it's a chance for anyone who wants to get more involved to come and find out how.

It is being held at All Saints Church, Uxbridge Road Hanworth T13 5EE from 7.30pm onwards. Parking is available, or bus routes 285, 490 and 111.

Alison Tsang, chair said "We've now welcomed 8 households to the borough, of Syrians who are settling well and starting to make homes here. We hope to welcome 2 more families at least in the next few months - to support the council in their commitment to 10 families. We are now needing some more volunteers to help- whether fundraising,  befriending, or just to clean up a house before an arrival lands.

"If you want to know more do come along on Monday and find out how to get involved!

Refugees Welcome

"Our main speaker is an inspiring man who knows all about volunteering with refugees — Steve Wells, chair of Elmbridge CAN (E-Can). They are a brilliant voluntary organisation, welcoming refugees in the neighbouring area of Elmbridge. He will speak on his and others' experience of befriending and how much he has gained through his befriending.  We'll also hear from some of our own volunteers, in the various roles they have played and what they have got out out it.

"As well as this we'll have an update on our current progress, and a chance to hear more about future plans, and ask questions. And, we hope some tasty Syrian refreshments!"
