Burglary
Burglary is a particularly damaging offence for the victim and the surrounding community. Brentford SNT and Hounslow Police as a whole take this crime very
seriously. Every offence which is committed is scrutinised by the Serious and Acquisitive Crime Unit to ensure no opportunity to identify offenders is missed.

We have now introduced a tactic referred to as ‘cocooning’ to follow up on every residential burglary. Any offence committed is managed by an experienced
detective, we lead in following up with the victim and conducting door to door enquiries in the surrounding area to warn local residents of the crime, to identify
witnesses and to look for opportunities to give crime prevention advice. PCSO's are engaging with any residents they see reminding them of the importance of securing there house during the day and night.

The team are working alongside the Borough Intelligence unit, identifying known burglars within the local area looking to execute warrants in the near future. With increased patrols and the use of covert officers in unmarked police vehicles and duel patrol with local authority wardens.

Burglary
The team continue to patrol Linkfield Road and surrounding streets as it is still a hot spot for burglaries. Street briefings have been held locally where members of the team have met residents and given relevant crime prevention advice. Cocoon
visits are now completed after every burglary, which have supplied further information to ongoing investigations. Plain clothes Police Officers have been on patrol in vehicles and on foot, stopping and searching individuals in the area.

The team have visited known offenders at their home address, letting them know they are being watched and warning them about their future behaviour.

Theft and/or taking pedal cycles
Syon is a busy transport hub and we have a lot of cyclists passing through each
day. Our teams often patrol in plain clothes and on unmarked bikes, which have
been donated, to allow us to identify and catch offender’s intent on stealing bikes.
Regular patrols of West Middlesex hospital have reduced the number of bikes
being stolen from the location. Any cyclists seen are spoken to and given crime
prevention advice, such as using a strong lock.

The local Safer Transport team have held bike marking events where bikes have
been registered on the internet, making it easier for police to establish the rightful
owner in future. We have worked alongside them at local transport hubs.
