Floreat Free School Public Meeting
Use of green open land for schools proving unpopular
A meeting about the planning application for Floreat Free School will be held on Thursday 28 May in St Paul’s Church Brentford. Doors open at 6.30pm and the meeting begins at 7pm.
Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of the Council said:
“We’re holding this meeting because we know people will have a lot of questions about this application, which there wouldn’t be enough time to answer at planning committee.
“This is a great opportunity to find out more and have your questions answered.”
The meeting will be attended by all three ward councillors from Syon ward as well council officers from planning, leisure, education and traffic. It will be chaired by Suzie Betlem, President of Brentford Chamber of Commerce.
As well as asking questions at the meeting, you can also submit questions in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘Floreat Meeting’ as the subject.
"SOR - Save Our Rec" is an adhoc group formed at short notice to stop Hounslow Council building a junior free school on Brent Lea Recreation Ground and supported by Brent Lea residents, Brentford Chamber of Commerce, Brentford Community Council, Hounslow Friends of the Earth, Hounslow NUT and the Hounslow Green Party.
There is a petition to save Hounslow's green spaces and parks, in response to this and other applications or proposals to build schools on green belt.
Find the planning application by visiting planning search (agreeing T&Cs, and then selecting "search planning applications") and then entering 00707/AK/P1 in the box marked Planning number.
Comments on the application should be sent to Case officer Stephen.Hissett@hounslow.gov.uk and email@example.com
