The Mulberry Centre has been given one of the Tree of Trees which was part of a spectacular 21-metre sculpture featuring 350 British native trees that was erected outside Buckingham Palace.

It formed the centrepiece of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend and the Mulberry Centre is one of only eighteen organisations in the capital to receive a tree from the celebrations in June.

On behalf of Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, The Mulberry Centre was selected and invited to attend a special Gifting Ceremony, on the morning of Monday 3 October, at The Royal Hospital Chelsea. It was presented with a tree set in aluminium pots embossed with Her Majesty’s cypher, including a special note of thanks from The Queen, a letter from the Chairman of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

The sculpture sought to put the importance of trees and nature at the heart of this historic milestone to celebrate Her Majesty, who has planted over 1,500 trees all over the world throughout the course of her 70-year reign.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenants across the country were asked to nominate organisations and groups they believed made a positive and measurable impact on their communities. The tree and pot are symbols of the Queen’s gratitude for the tireless efforts of these organisations.

Raj Athwal, Executive Director, said, “We were honoured to have been chosen to receive one of the trees from the spectacular Tree of Trees sculpture in recognition of making a positive and measurable impact on our communities. It was a privilege to be part of the special Gifting Ceremony at The Royal Hospital Chelsea and receive our special potted tree.”.
