Charlie MacDonald scored a hat trick as Brentford won 3-0 against Chester to cut Wycombe's lead at the top of League Two to one point.

Rodes passed the ball to Charlie in the 21st minute for the first goal. He then turned home Sam Wood's pass and squeezed a low drive home from a tight angleon 35 minutes. Charlie then smashed the ball straight into the roof of the net after a foul on Rhodes to complete the hat trick and the first half.

The Bees never quite managed to break through in the second half, despite numerous attempts and great determination from Sam Wood.

Mark Wright said at half time that he felt sorry for his team. They were playing with an injured goalkeeper and five youth team players on the bench.
